NORTHERN TERRIORITY FASHION AWARDS

Carol Hanlon was recently invited to visit Darwin as the Guest judge at the Northern Terriority Fashion Awards held in Darwin Nov 8th.  There is great textile artists and design talent emerging in NT and over the next year we will be forming further networking links between these two states and in particular the textile artists wishing to collobrate on textile projects or training opportunities with WA textile artists or designers

Dutch TCF Investor Ido Bakker has recently signed contracts to invest in WA design firm Strange Love to expand into national and international markets.

Indonesian/Australian TCF Investor, Perth based Iskandar Judodihardjo has recently acquired  the C Design Label, to expand it’s manufacturing and distribution.  Claire Metcalf, C Design designer, will also design and develop fashion ranges for many of the Zip Fashion House national and international labels including the prestigeous Vers label.

Sheree Dornan, will also showcase her range of silk garments under her  Love in Tokyo label.  Sheree will also be showcasing her range next month at Mercedes Australian Fashion Week in Melbourne.

A new service ‘Industry Techlink’  will give small and medium sized business
access to free technology advice through a hotline phone service (1800 111
485), an interactive website (www.industrytechlink.com.au) and an e-mail
service [email protected]  Example:  a company using a
manual cutting process in the leather industry may want to
make use of the latest laser technology to automate the process. Industry
Techlink may help be able to help with advice.

EXPORT MENTORS AT THE BELMONT BEC / TCF WA
Belmont BEC now has two business mentors join its ranks who have extensive
expertise in export access networks and in particular the UK markets.  Clem
Rogers and Todd Hill are available for mentor appointments at the Belmont
BEC on Mondays
and Wednesdays from 9am – 1.30pm.  They are also able to assist with export

We have moved TCF Friday to The Ferrara Bar, 67 Milligan Street, Perth (just near Fast Eddy’s) this will be a private function room so please come along and enjoy industry networking, you are welcome to invite others along (event details attached)

Our interesting Guest Speaker this month will be Ted Bytheway, with his topic ‘Sizing’. Ted a veteran of the ragtrade (ex Flinders Lane) Ted used to have his own label St Clair and also assisted industry icons Norma Tullo, Prue Acton and Anthea Crawford. Ted is joining TCF WA as a Mentor and will be available for those wishing to access his services by appointment specialising in production techniques, especially those having problems dealing with wovens in production and sizing.

We will also being having a Guest Speaker on finding finance or managing your cash flow when your business is starting out or growing.

Viechi was the featured designer at the Vietnamese New Year Celebrations and 18 year old James is certainly an emerging designer to watch for in the future.
