TCFWA, TCF Australia and the Belmont BEC are hosting buying missions to the World Boutique and Hong Kong Fashion Week in January 2011 on behalf of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. The buying mission will provide the opportunity for eligible firms to apply for a complimentary accommodation package to attend the prestige event which will be focused on the 2011 Fall/Winter season.

The City of Joondalup is offering state fashion and beauty competitions the opportunity to showcase participants and promote their event in the brand new fashion extravaganza, Urban Couture. State fashion and beauty competitions are invited to bring a runway parade to the event and showcase participants to a new public audience. The form the runway parade takes is entirely flexible and could involve a scaled down version of the competition finale or a showcase of select participants. SMEs NEED PROOF OF PLANT AND EQUIPMENT INSTALLED FOR TAX BREAK
The ATO is trying to remind all small businesses of their requirements to have installed any plant or equipment purchased under the Federal Government investment allowance scheme. Businesses that made investments in new plant and equipment that want to benefit from the original deduction, need to have it installed and ready by 31 December. Businesses need some type of proof, a photograph or some type of documentation, that the equipment is actually ready for use. New online tool gives small business the edge in IP

is specifically aimed at TCF small businesses unable to receive assistance under the TCF (SIP) Scheme or the TCF Post-2005 (SIP) Scheme. It is competitive and merit-based with a maximum grant of $50,000 provided to each successful project. Funding of $2.5 million is available per year over a ten year period, commencing in 2006/07. POWERHOUSE MUSEUM INTERNATIONAL LACE AWARD: LOVE LACE
The award seeks to challenge conventional notions of lace and its application in the areas of fashion, the built environment and digital multi media. The work must be original and reflect the artist’s identity and cultural origins. The overall winner will be presented with $20,000 and there are five other prizes of $4,000 including an Australian and New Zealand student prize. SMART NEWS – IP AUSTRALIA: IP ENFORCEMENT AND CUSTOMS
Owners of intellectual property rights can choose to protect their IP by lodging documents requesting that Customs and Border Protection seize infringing goods at the border. Customs and Border Protection officers in Fremantle recently stopped more than 10,000 counterfeit Tiffany & Co. items from reaching the local market in Perth and being sold to unsuspecting consumers.
